The Lady Lopes finished out the 2026 season with a taste of playoff success and a new set of goals for the many returning players taking the field in 2027.
Led by freshman pitcher Anna Fowler’s 12 strikeouts , the # 8 seeded girls defeated #9 Yough 3-2 in the first round, a measurable success for a team primarily built around 9th and 10th grade players.
The second round presented a significant challenge through # 1 ranked South Park’s pitcher Sydney Sekely. Despite another strong performance from Fowler in a second straight start, the Eagles defeated the Lady Lopes 2-0 in the quarterfinal matchup. Players commented on Sekely’s particularly difficult rise ball as the key to her success.
With seniors Cara Kuban, Reese Long (who will continue to play at Bethany College), and Gaby Interthal graduating, the 2027 team will return many of the players who saw their season end on May 18th.
