On September 30, 2026, a woman named Christa Pike was sent to death row after her conviction for a murder. She received two injections of pentobarbital. It did not work, and she is still conscious.
It has been talked about by many people, hearing it in the hallways and classrooms. I wanted to gather people’s thoughts about it. I asked them: “What do you think about the failed two injections on the one woman in Tennessee? And what do you think they should do next”.
I asked a ninth grader, Jackson Bogess. He said, “I think that they should put her out of her misery, and if she puffed up, she should not have to suffer”. He had a very straightforward answer, and I liked the honesty.
Then I asked Mr Nolan. He was very happy to answer my question; he said, “I was reading about this earlier. There are two sides to this: do they help her to get better? Or do they just give her a third injection? I mean, she did kill someone, so I think that they should, you know, give her a third one”. He had a deep thought about it, even trying to see multiple sides.
