The construction was first announced in 2021 and was meant to start 5/23/2022. However, due to massive price increases, the widescale plans for additions and renovations were fully paused. During the time in between they removed students’ lockers and took the bookshelves out of the library. They removed lockers to allow students to walk in hallways but posed the problem of people now needing a space to store personal belongings. A major part of the original as well as the ongoing plan is to turn the current library into 4 classrooms; however, they put all the books into bags and got rid of the shelves. This means that for almost an entire year it was extremely hard or impossible for students to check out a book. Recently, they got new bookshelves that have wheels so they can move them, giving a temporary solution to not having books.
These incomplete changes affect almost every student. This also leads students to question what changes will be made over the summer of 2023, and what we will come back to in September.
Overall, students are looking forward to the changes made over the summer, and are hoping to come back to major changes in the school.
This is a really good article and it explains the possible issues students might have with the changes. I think students will enjoy the changes that will be happening to out school.
